About us
The Sint Maarten Roadrunners Association is a nonprofit organization founded in 1984 by Malcolm Maidwell and Frits Bus, with the mission of bringing together runners, joggers, and walkers of all levels. What began as a small group has grown into a vibrant, supportive community that welcomes members from both the Dutch and French sides of the island.
From the beginning, the Roadrunners have been dedicated not only to promoting health and a love of running but also to supporting local charities through organized races and events. One of our signature events, the Around the Island Relay Race, was launched in 1987 by Malcolm Maidwell to celebrate unity across the island. This iconic race continues to bring the community together each year.
With regular training sessions, fun runs, and races, our club offers something for everyone — whether you're chasing a personal best or just looking to enjoy group exercise in good company. We welcome runners, joggers, walkers, families, baby joggers, and well-behaved pets. For us, the camaraderie and shared journey are just as important as crossing the finish line.
