About us

The Sint Maarten Roadrunners Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing together runners, joggers, and walkers of all levels.
Founded in 1984 by Malcolm Maidwell and Frits Bus, the club has steadily grown into a vibrant and welcoming community, uniting enthusiasts from both the Dutch and French sides of the island.

Since its early days, the Sint Maarten Roadrunners have been committed not only to promoting fitness and a love of running but also to supporting local charities. Among the many events we organize, the iconic Around the Island Relay Race stands out. This race, first held in 1987, was created by Malcolm Maidwell as a way to celebrate unity across the island.

Our club offers regular training sessions, fun runs, and races designed for all abilities — whether you're aiming for personal bests or simply looking to enjoy the camaraderie of group exercise. We warmly invite everyone to join us: runners, joggers, walkers, families, well-behaved pets, and even baby joggers! Our board members are passionate about fostering a supportive, friendly atmosphere where the journey and the community matter just as much as the finish line. The current board includes:
Krispijn Teunissen (President), Berit Bus, Marcel de Wit, Oscar Williams. Long-time board members are: Susy Maidwell, Juan Pablo Piscione and Frits Bus.
Come be part of the Sint Maarten Roadrunners — where fitness, friendship, and fun come together!

Our mission is to provide moments for communities to unite and inspire for a better future.
